Argentina: foreign public debt as share of GDP 2004-2022
Argentina is one of the most indebted countries in the Latin American region. In 2022, the public debt that Argentina's central government owed to foreign creditors equaled 30.5 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP). The volume of external debt in relation to GDP has been steadily increasing since 2012, when the share stood at 11.2 percent. The highest increase was registered between 2017 and 2018.
