Paraguay: key figures on yerba mate 2019
Paraguay is one of the largest yerba mate producing countries in the world. As of 2019, Paraguay produced around 40 million kilograms of ground yerba mate leaves per year, originating from a total cultivated area of 20 thousand hectares. It is estimated that at an average of 57.5 thousand people were directly employed by this sector in the South American country.
