In 2019, the District of Columbia had the highest per capita debt of university students in the United States. In D.C., students had an average of 13,320 U.S. dollars debt per capita, nearly double of the nation's average. On the other hand, Wyoming had the lowest student debt, with 3,610 U.S. dollars per capita.
