Distribution of medical errors reported to JQ Japan 2022, by injury degree
In 2022, approximately 7.8 percent of medical errors led to deaths of patients, according to the reports submitted by medical facilities to the Japan Council for Quality Health Care (JQ). Designated by the health ministry in the country, JQ conducts various third-party evaluations of healthcare institutions and provides a database of medical adverse events and near miss events with the aim of improving the healthcare system in Japan.
