Natural gas pipeline export
As of 2018, about 12.24 billion cubic meters of natural gas has been exported via midstream pipelines from Iran. Apart from shipping liquified natural gas (LNG), Qatar exported 22.36 billion cubic meters of natural gas through its midstream pipelines.
Extension of midstream gas pipelines
An extension of the gas pipeline network of the Middle East worth over 10.3 billion U.S. dollars is planned. Besides the extension of the Iranian gas pipelines are those of Iraq, with an extension of over 8.8 thousand kilometers, and Saudi Arabia, with a 1.15-thousand-kilometer extension planned. The leading investors of Middle East gas pipelines are Saudi Aramco with 15.8 billion U.S. dollars and the Iran Gas Engineering & Development company with 11.5 billion U.S. dollars.
