Production of dry beans in South Africa 2000-2020
The production of dry beans in South Africa amounted to 80 thousand metric tons in 2019/2020. A slight increase was recorded in the production volume, as 73 thousand metric tons were produced in 2018/19. Between 2000 and 2020, drastic fluctuations were registered in terms of the quantity produced. The variations may be linked to the fact that dry beans are an optimal rotational crop, recommended to be planted once every three to four years.
