Production of apples in South Africa 2000-2019
South Africa produced 856.6 thousand metric tons of fresh apples in 2018/19. The volume slightly increased in comparison to the previous production year, when 843.2 metric tons were harvested. Since 2000, there was an upward trend in the production. In that year, around 608.1 thousand metric tons of apples were produced in South Africa. During the whole period, few fluctuations were also registered, bein the drops in production volume associated with bad weather conditions in producing regions, mainly the Western Cape.
