Number of overnight stays in Denmark from January to July 2020, by nationality
The tourism industry in Denmark suffered greatly from the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19), after the country officially shut down in March 2020. This was especially true in April 2020, when the number of overnight stays dropped significantly compared to the previous month. As of May 2020, however, the number of tourists started increasing again. In all months, German visitors accounted for the highest number of overnight stays in Denmark, reaching roughly 2.6 million overnight stays in July 2020. Also, a significant amount of Norwegian tourists visited Denmark the same month.
