Percent change in jail inmate population due to COVID-19 by ethnicity U.S. 2019-2020
From June 2019 to June 2020, the confined jail inmate population in the United States fell across all ethnicities. The share of white confined jail inmates decreased by nearly 28 percent due to COVID-19 in that year. On the other hand, it decreased by 16.4 percent for Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander inmates.
