Distribution of bank loans in Kenya 2022, by sector
As of 2022, Kenyan banks provided gross loans worth about 3.6 trillion Kenyan Shillings (KSh), around 25.8 billion U.S. dollars. The personal and household sector received the highest amount of bank credit that year, just over 27 percent of the total (around 984 billion KSh, or around seven billion U.S. dollars). Trade, manufacturing and real-estate sectors followed as main beneficiaries of gross loans in 2022.
