Credit card ownership in Algeria 2024, by gender
As of January 2024, the credit card penetration rate in Algeria was at 2.8 percent. Male adults in the country registered a rate of 4.1 percent, and they were significantly more likely to own a credit card than women. In the same period, only around 1.5 women out of 100 had access to a credit card in Algeria. The penetration rate of payment cards in the country is extremely low, especially when compared to the banking penetration. About 44 percent of the population had an account with a financial institution in 2024.
