Total employment in Africa 2010-2019, by gender
The majority of the people employed in Africa are males. In 2019, men in employment amounted to around 260 million, against 197 million women. The proportion between females and males did not grow significantly compared to 2010. In general, the relation remained at around 76 females per 100 males. A total of over 453 million people were employed in Africa in 2020.
