Annual electricity generation from wind energy in Kenya 2010-2020
Electricity generated by wind energy in Kenya fell to 1,331 million kilowatt hours in 2020, down from 1,563 million kilowatt hours in 2019. That year, the country inaugurated the Lake Turkana Wind Plant, funded by a consortium of African and European companies and considered Africa’s largest wind power project. Despite the decline in 2020, wind generation has in general increased in the country. In 2010, only 17 million kilowatt hours of electricity were harvested from the source.
