Government expenditures in Egypt 2016-2023
As of the first half of fiscal year 2022/2023, the government expenditures reached roughly 1,136 billion Egyptian pounds (which is comparable to 36.77 billion U.S. dollars). Furthermore, the government expenditure peaked at 1,812 billion Egyptian pounds (58.65 U.S. dollars) in 2021/2022. From 2016/2017 onwards, the government spending has been following an increasing trend. During the period under review, revenues generated by the government were lower than government spending, which led to a fiscal deficit.
