In Canada, opinions about immigration, particularly the acceptance of refugees, differ significantly depending on age and gender. In 2019, while more than one-third of men aged 18 to 34 thought there were too many refugee/humanitarian immigrants, this proportion was 20 percent lower among their female counterparts. In addition, while this opinion differed only slightly by age among men (regardless of age, they were still between 37 and 42 percent to share this opinion), there was more variation among women. At ages 35-54, women were almost twice as likely to think there were too many refugees in Canada as those who were younger.
