In Canada, opinions about immigration, and in particular the reception of refugees, differ significantly depending on political preferences. In 2019, most Canadians who voted for the New Democratic Party or Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party in the last federal election felt that there were either the right number of refugees in Canada or not enough. In contrast, more than half of people who voted for the Conservative Party or an "other" party thought there were too many refugees in the country.
