Ireland: leading online platforms among children 2020, by gender
An October 2020 survey asked children in Ireland which apps or websites they used the most. Overall, 59 percent of boys said that they used YouTube, making it the most used platform amongst male respondents and the second most popular for girls, with 43 percent. For girls, Snapchat was the leading service with 46 percent of female respondents stating that they used this service in comparison with 40 percent of boys. In addition, Tiktok was used over twice as much by girls than it was by boys, with 31 percent and 15 percent respectively.
