COVID-19: time spent with children during the pandemic in Germany 2020
In May 2020, 88 percent of German parents stated that their children of kindergarten age spent more time with their mothers compared to before the beginning of the coronavirus pandermic (COVID-19). For the same age group, only six percent of parents indicated that their children were spending more time with their grandparents, illustrating the effect of contact restrictions impacting the time spent with family members not sharing a home with the children. Attempts to minimize the risk of infection for older family members may also have played a role.
