Global per capita availability of food groups by income group 2021

For the 2019 to 2021 period, the calorie equivalent of available food staples (cereals, roots, tubers, and pulses) came to over 1,530 kilocalories per person per day worldwide. This figure was lower in high income countries, where staples provided overall less calories but were combined with comparatively high calorie equivalents in animal products, fats, sweeteners, and other food products. In low income countries, staples supplied over 1,730 kilocalories on average.

Animal products include meat, dairy products (excluding butter), eggs and fish. Fats include butter and vegetable oil. Sweeteners include sugar and HFCS.
