In 2018, the youth literacy rate in Morocco corresponded to around 98 percent among boys and 97 percent among girls. Literacy levels among the population aged 15 to 24 years gradually increased in the period under review. Moreover, the gender gap narrowed significantly. In 2004, in comparison, 60 percent of the young women were literate, compared to 81 percent of the young men.
