Total amount spent on care by individuals with diabetes in Ghana 2019-2022
In 2022, 726 individuals in Ghana with diabetes spent a total of 388,000 Ghanaian cedis (GHS), some 38,000 U.S. dollars, on care. In 2020, the expenditure reached over two billion GHS, roughly 196 million U.S. dollars, with around 4.1 million patients. Although the number of patients was higher in 2019 (over 4.6 million people) than in 2020, the cost on care amounted to approximately 1.2 billion GHS that year.
