Portugal: most popular supermarkets 2022

Lidl was the most popular supermarket in June 2022 according to the survey taken by Portuguese consumers. It had a score of 85 percent out of 100. It was followed by the French supermarket chain, myAuchan, with a score of 84 percent, while Continente Modelo ranked third.

For the study, 14 supermarket chains were selected, namely: Aldi, Amanhecer, Continente Bom Dia, Continente Modelo, Coviran, Froiz, Intermarché, Lidl, Meu Super, Minipreço, myAuchan, Pingo Doce, Spar, and SuperCor.

Each customer was asked to score the following eleven parameters for each company:

1. Friendly employees;
2. Atmosphere in store;
3. Availability of self-service checkouts;
4. Availability of special offers;
5. Availability of local and regional products;
6. Availability of new and innovative products;
7. Availability of organic products;
8. Freshness of fruits and vegetables;
9. Price / quality ratio;
10. Variety of products;
11. General;
