Level of trust in mass media in the U.S. 2023, by political affiliation
According to a 2023 survey, Democrats were overwhelmingly more likely than Republicans to express trust in the mass media to report the news without bias, with 15 percent of Democrats saying they trust it a great deal, and 43 percent saying a fair amount. Only 11 percent of Republicans who were surveyed expressed trust in mass media in general. In contrast, 80 percent of Republicans said that they did not trust mass media, compared to 42 percent of Democrats.
