The length of public transport lines in Egypt amounted to around 250,000 kilometers as of 2019/2020. Of those, the majority were outside cities, covering 158,391 kilometers. The length of public transport routes inside cities, not including Cairo and Alexandria, was slightly over 54,740 kilometers. Furthermore, public transport routes covered 31,817 kilometers in Cairo.
