India: safety star ratings influence on car owners 2023

As the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) is being launched by the government of India, car owners were asked if they learned about the crash test/ BNCAP safety star ratings of their cars, what actions were they likely to take. According to this survey, 48 percent of the respondents mentioned that they would ensure speed and safety belt compliance while driving on high speed roads or highways. Another 28 percent of respondents said that they would upgrade to a car with higher safety star rating. In the same survey, majority of prospective buyers agreed that safety star ratings is a must-have.
