Premature deaths related to air pollution in Spain in 2021, by pollutant
There were approximately 14,000 premature deaths in Spain attributable to exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations above the WHO AQ guideline in 2021. PM2.5 can lead to many health issues, such as lung cancer, asthma, and strokes. PM2.5 emissions in Spain have reduced by more than 25 percent since 2000.
