GHG emissions from wildfires in Mexico 2001-2022
Wildfires in Mexico generated 1.97 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) in 2022. There were more than 6,700 wildfires in Mexico in 2022, with the highest number of such events recorded in the State of Mexico and Jalisco. Between 2001 and 2022, the highest GHG emissions attributable to wildfires occurred in 2019,at 3.72 MtCO₂e.
