Italian wine in the U.S.
The U.S. was the largest importer of Italian wine in the world in the first half of 2019, and the leading destination for Italian Prosecco sparkling wine in the first half of 2020. Globally, Italian wine exports were valued at 6.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2019, making Italy the second largest exporter of wine globally after France.
Wine brands
Franzia and Barefoot, both domestic wine brands, were the two leading table wine brands in the U.S. in 2020. Franzia is produced by The Wine Group, an American alcoholic beverages manufacturer headquartered in Livermore, California. Barefoot wine was purchased by E&J Gallo Winery in 2005. As for imported table wine, Yellow Tail was by far the leading imported table wine brand in the U.S. in 2019, based on sales volume. Yellow Tail is produced by the Australian wine manufacturer Casella Family Brands.
