Global onshore wind turbine manufacturers 2019, by commissioned capacity
Leading wind turbine manufacturers – additional information
A Chinese wind firm, Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology, was ranked second in the global wind turbine manufacturers ranking in 2019, with a 7.64 gigawatt capacity commissioned. The company dominated China’s domestic market, installing two gigawatts more than the second largest Chinese manufacturer on the table, Envision. In the 2018 financial year, Goldwind generated about 4.16 billion U.S. dollars in revenue. The company was one of the largest wind turbine manufacturers in the world, in terms of revenue. Denmark’s Vestas generated almost 12.1 billion U.S. dollars in revenue in 2019, in comparison.
The emergence of Chinese manufacturers in the global market, such as Goldwind, Envision, and Ming Yang have consistently ranked among the leading wind turbine suppliers worldwide, securing China's position in the global wind market. This was in part due to a surging wind power market at home, which had almost 217 gigawatts of cumulative installed capacity as of 2018, surpassing all other countries. Although China’s wind power market has grown significantly, its annual average growth rate is expected to slow down in the coming years.
