The average position value refers to the overall ranking of the contemporary artists given over the last seven years in the "Kunstkompass" (Art Compass) section of the magazine. Kunstkompass is the most important ranking of contemporary artists worldwide. The information and evaluation system has measured, since 1970, as objectively as possible, the fame and rank of artists. The points are awarded based on the response of artists. Around 250 solo exhibitions in major museums, participation in important group exhibitions including the Venice Biennale, reviews in professional journals as well as purchases of renowned art museums such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris were evaluated. Prices and auction records do not effect this ranking.
