The value of e-commerce sales in South Korea amounted to almost 210 trillion South Korean won in 2022. The popularity of online shopping via different e-commerce channels has continuously grown over the last years. This was especially true in the last year due to the effects of COVID-19, as the South Korean e-commerce market experienced an increase.
Online shopping is the most popular way of e-commerce, with around 74 percent of South Koreans using internet shopping as of September 2022. Among those, the monthly online shopping frequency varied, but around half of all internet shoppers did so three or more times a month. Internet shopping is available via various devices, such as tablets, computers and smartphones. With the number of smartphone users in South Korea rising, the usage of mobile shopping has increased as well.
