This statistic shows the share of care home residents who pay for their own care in England in 2012, by region. There is quite a clear north-south divide with regions such as the North East and North West having lower proportions and the South East and South West, higher. London is an exception to this pattern. In the North East, 33 percent less people pay for their own care than their counterparts in the South East do.
