Tourists in Barcelona 2000-2023, by travel reason
Leisure was the main reason to travel to Barcelona, Spain in 2023, according to a survey. In that year, roughly seven out of ten respondents said they had visited the popular Spanish city for holidays or recreation. By contrast, this share was only at 42 percent in 2000 versus 54 percent of respondents saying that they traveled to the city for business or professional reasons.
