Arts Council England subsidies 2020-2023, by industry

The total subsidies granted to arts and cultural organizations regularly funded by the Arts Council England (ACE) decreased by 18.4 percent in 2022/2023 compared to the previous fiscal year. According to an ACE analysis based on a constant sample of 728 organizations, theaters reported the highest figure, receiving around 104 million British pounds in subsidies between April 2022 and March 2023. Music organizations followed in the ranking, with roughly 81 million British pounds in ACE subsidies that year. Arts Council England is the national development agency providing government and lottery funding for the arts in England.
