Africa: share of construction projects by ownership 2020

African governments constituted the largest construction projects' owners in Africa as of 2020 - accounting for an ownership share of 75.8 percent. Private domestic firms owned 10.4 percent of the projects, while consortiums had a share of 7.8 percent. That year, infrastructure and capital projects in the continent had a decrease of around 20 percent in value, compared to 2019.

"To qualify for inclusion, infrastructure construction projects are required to be valued at over US$50m. For this year’s edition, projects must have broken ground, but not yet been commissioned by 1 June 2020".

EU countries include France, Italy, Portugal and the Netherlands. Single countries include Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Middle East countries include Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait and Turkey. Other Asian countries include Macau and Singapore.

Missing percentage points to 100 percent are probably due to rounding.
