The Brazilian company Eurofarma Laboratórios S.A. was the leading pharmaceutical company in Brazil in 2021, with a revenue of around 5.33 billion Brazilian reals. EMS Pharma S.A. ranked second with a revenue of about 5.12 billion reals. The total revenue of the pharmaceutical market in Brazil reached more than 146 billion reals in 2021, a value that has been constantly increasing since 2015.

Brazil was among the leading pharmaceutical markets worldwide in 2021, with a market share of around 2.2 percent. As of 2017, the market was mostly dominated by sales of new medicines and biologicals, which comprised approximately 46 percent of the total revenue that year. Generic drugs, in comparison, accounted for around 13.2 percent of the total sales in 2017.
