Aging index in Italy 2012-2023
The Aging Index refers to the number of elderly population (aged 65 years and over) per 100 individuals younger than 14 years old in a specific population. Thus, the higher the index is, the older the population results. In 2023, in Italy there were 193.3 elderly people every 100 young individuals. Between 2012 and 2023, this figure increased steadily.
