Market share of leading online sports betting operators in Italy 2023

In December 2023, Lottomatica was the leading company for online sports betting in Italy, accounting for roughly 20.6 percent of the market's total gross gaming revenue (GGR). That month, Sisal and Snai followed behind, holding a market share of around 15 percent and 13 percent, respectively. 

Bets from the Boot: the Italian cities with the highest GGR

From January to October 2023, Naples was the Italian city with the highest gross gaming revenue from virtual sports betting. Over that period, that market's GGR in Naples amounted to over 56 million euros. Meanwhile, Rome and Milan followed on the list. The same three cities also reported the highest GGR from sports bets placed in betting agencies from January to October 2023. 

Soccer betting in Italy

Soccer betting is an important segment of sports betting in Italy. In 2022, Serie A was the soccer league that generated the most significant income in that respect. Overall, the amount wagered for Serie A soccer betting totaled just under two billion euros.
