Reach of selected daily newspapers in Switzerland 2015/2016
This statistic shows the average number of readers reached by selected daily newspapers in Switzerland in 2015/2016. First place was held by 20 Minuten (National; German for 20 Minutes), with 1,365 reached daily on average. 20 Minuten (National) was followed by 20 Minuten (German-speaking Switzerland) with almost the exact same amount of readers reached on a daily basis, 1,364. Third place was taken by Metropool, with a daily readership reach of 900 readers. Metropool unites three leading daily newspapers in Switzerland: the Tages-Anzeiger (Daily Gazette in German), the Basler Zeitung (Basel Newspaper in German) and the BZ Berner Zeitung/ Der Bund (BZ Bern Newspaper/ The Union in German), concentrating on advertising. During the period of evaluation, it was reported that several daily newspapers in Switzerland were confronted with sinking readership figures in comparison to earlier years, such as the Blick newspapers Blick am Abend (Evening View in German) and Blick (View in German), Neue Zürcher Zeitung (New Zurich Newspaper in German) and the Tages-Anzeiger. During this period, the general trend pointed towards national titles losing readers, while regional titles saw growing reach numbers.
