Supplementary notes

Although Valentine's Day became popular after economic liberalization in India, there are protests every year against celebrations from groups who consider it a western influence, leading to law and order problems in many cities.
The most widely covered campaign against moral policing, arguably, was the Pink Chaddi or Pink Underwear campaign which followed after a member of the Sri Ram Sena (an orthodox Hindu group) threatened to marry off and take other actions against couples found together on Valentine's Day.
