Italy: total amount of euro banknotes returned from circulation 2011-2015
This timeline shows the total number of euro banknotes of all denominations removed from circulation and destroyed by the Bank of Italy in Italy from 2011 to 2015. Over the period of consideration, the total amount of euro banknotes removed from circulation increased from approximately 2.35 billion notes as of 2011 to roughly 2.5 billion notes by the end of 2015. The highest number of banknotes removed from circulation was found in 2013 (almost 2.6 billion notes).
