In 2017, Benelli sold 2,040 motorcycles in Italy. By comparison, Honda sold over 50 thousand motorcycles, whereas the brand Piaggio sold more than 31 thousand and Yamaha more than 29 thousand motorcycles. That year, Benelli was ranked fifteenth on the list of manufacturers selling motorcycles in Italy. The most sold type of motorcycle in Italy in 2017, was naked motorcycles, also called standard motorcycles or roadsters.
Daily modes of transportation in Italy
The results of the Statista Global Consumer survey conducted in Italy in 2019, showed amongst others the modes of transportation the respondents used for their daily commute to work, school or university. In short, 72 percent of the Italians answered that they used a car, while only 24 percent answered public transportation and ten percent answered bicycle. Merely three percent answered that they used their own motorcycle to commute daily.
