Market capitalization of leading European banks 2010-2018

This statistic illustrates the market capitalization of Europe's five largest banks from the year end of 2010 to 2018. For this statistic we took the five largest European banks in terms of market capitalization as of December 2018 and tracked them annually back to 2010. Whereas each year may not represent the top 5 banks as of the end of each year displayed, it does show the progression of the 5 European banks which currently have the largest market capital value as of December 2018.

Market capitalization can be a great indicator of a banks size by calculating the number of companies shares outstanding by the current price of a single share. As of December 2018 HSBC Holdings, headquartered in the United Kingdom (UK) had a market capital value of approximately 144 billion euros.
