Leading banks in Europe 2017, by global number of customers

This statistic displays the number of worldwide customers for Europe's largest banks in 2017. The number of customers is seen as a significant key performance indicator (KPI) when it comes to understanding the size of a company and its importance to the economy in general. Sberbank of Russia had the highest number of customers of any European bank included, at approximately 151 million. As of 2017 Banco Santander had approximately 133 million customers worldwide, more than double that of the French banking giant Credit Agricole Group. When compared to Europe's leading banks in terms of total assets it can be seen that the Banco Santander were not top during the same period.
