Risk-weighted assets of leading European banks 2017

This statistic illustrates the 2017 risk-weighted assets (RWA) of Europe's leading banks in billion euros. Risk weighted assets (RWA) are used to calculate the minimum amount of capital that must be held by a bank to reduce the risk of insolvency.

It is unsurprising that the larger European banks, in terms of assets, also had higher RWA, with HSBC Holdings reporting risk-weighted assets valued at approximately 725.5 billion euros in 2017.
