In the financial year 2022, electricity usage across Australia amounted to just over 189 terawatt hours. This was a slight increase in electricity usage across the country compared to previous year.

Over years the contribution of renewable energy to generate electricity had soared in Australia. As an alternative to non-renewable sources of energy, around 36 percent of renewable energy was generated from wind.

In Australia, there were many energy retailers available for Australians, however, Origin Energy was the most prominent in the residential electricity market in 2021. In a survey, it was revealed that the consumer spending on electricity had constantly decreased since 2019.
