Two of the shoe retailers that generate the highest revenue in the Italian market are Compar SpA and Cosmo SpA, who operate shoe store chains under the names Bata and Globo Moda respectively. Both chains sell a wide array of footwear from many of the world’s biggest brands. Cosmo Spa generated considerably higher revenues in Italy than Compar, at over 600 million euros. In comparison, Compar made almost 320 million euros in sales that year.Over the past years, e-commerce has become increasingly popular in retail. The leading shopping apps downloaded from the Google Play Store in Italy include apparel and footwear marketplaces, such as Shein, Vinted, and Subito. Subito had almost 200,000 downloads from the Google Play store alone as of September 2022.
