Domestic coffee consumption in Kenya 2009-2020
For the season 2019/2020, domestic consumption of coffee in Kenya was estimated to reach 1,500 metric tons. Although the item has a low consumption rate on the local market, this scenario is gradually changing following the rise of the Kenyan middle class. Besides the traditional and predominant tea preference, low purchasing power among the population also restricts coffee consumption in the country. In the last decade, however, Kenya has been experiencing a fast-rising coffee drinking culture.
