China: global plastics production share 2014-2021

In 2021, China accounted for approximately 32 percent of the total global production of plastics materials. This made China the world's largest plastic producer. China's share of global plastics production has been steadily growing.

The total worldwide production of plastics in 2021 amounted to some 391 million metric tons.
