The year-on-year performance of the restaurant food delivery industry in Japan in July 2023 resulted in a triple-digit surplus of 191 percent, meaning that sales revenues increased by that amount compared to the same period during 2019. While the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic had a negative influence on the food service industry in general, the food delivery segment experienced a boom as consumers shifted from dining out to food delivery.
